The Best Series You Probably Haven’t Heard Of

The Best Series You Probably Haven’t Heard Of

Hey guys!

As I may or may not have mentioned, I love discovering lesser-known books in the Amazon Kindle store. While I love a good NY Times best seller as much as the next fangirl, I also love finding a hidden gem by an author who is just starting out and needs a push. Some of my favorite series are mostly unknown, and whenever I recommend them, I always get blank looks. But I’ve also gotten good feedback on them! So, in the spirit of recommendations, because I know we all love those, here are some of the best books/series I have found out there in the book world that deserve a spot on your TBR!

Double Review: The Dream Thieves & Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

Double Review: The Dream Thieves & Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

Hello, blog peeps!

I’m realizing, while looking at my stats for this blog, that I haven’t been posting very regularly on here. Which I feel badly about. I guess I’ve just been so busy with life stuff that I sort of forget how many days go between posts. Time flies when you’re having fun, and sometimes when you’re not. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, to make up for it, I’m posting two reviews in one! I also thought this might be a bit easier for everyone, since the two books I’m reviewing are the second and third books in a series: The Raven Cycle. I reviewed the first book in this series, The Raven Boys, a couple weeks ago after finishing it in just a couple days. You can read that review here. Since then, I’ve marathoned the next two books, The Dream Thieves and Blue Lily, Lily Blue (click the titles to view their Goodreads pages). And if you know me at all, you know I can fly through a series when I’m enjoying it. My bookish friends have told me that The Raven Cycle is like a black hole that’s sucking me in. And maybe it is. But through all the fangirl feelings, shipping, and browsing the internet for fan-art and tumblr posts, I’ve been enjoying the ride into oblivion.

Book Talk: A New Opportunity

Hello, blog friends!

I have some exciting news! I’ve been contacted by a new blogging website, My Trending Stories, to become a contributer and share my book knowledge! Apparently they feel that my writing suites their all-inclusive vision for their site, and they also think my writing is engaging and attracts viewership! Of course, all these compliments definitely made my day. And I’ve accepted their offer! So, hopefully you’ll be seeing more of me around the blogosphere. πŸ˜‰ I don’t have many detail yet, but I’ll share them as I get them!

This whole situation also got me thinking about how grateful I am for each one of my followers, commenters, and viewers. You guys make my day by sticking with me and helping me share my passion. I love each one of you!

Also, on a total side note, I got this shirt and these shoes today:

And I love them so much πŸ˜‚ Its the softest and most “me” shirt there ever was. And I love Vans. Monday made for lots of reasons.

Cheers! β˜•οΈπŸ˜˜

Coffee Book Tag

Coffee Book Tag

What’s up, my book peeps?

I’ve been so busy with all the stupid adult responsibilities I have, I haven’t had time to read, post on bookstagram, or post here. It’s the lamest thing ever. Growing up isn’t all unicorns and free books, guys.

Anyway, in the small amount of free time I have, I’ve been looking around for inspiration for my next blog post (that’s this one!), and while I have a list of things I could write about, writing about coffee on a day when I could really use another cup seemed like fun. A few people I follow have done the Coffee Book tag, and while I feel like one of them might have tagged me (code for: I commented my undying love for the tag and they awkwardly told me I should give it a go πŸ˜‚). So, I’m sort of tagging myself. But that’s okay because I’m an independent person. πŸ˜‰ And since I haven’t technically been tagged, I’ll take the suffering away from you by tagging anyone who reads this who would like to do it! It’s perfect for a rainy day post, when you need a hot beverage. And on that note, is anyone else craving autumn? Or is that just me? It’s my favorite season for a reason, and while I like summer, it always feels a little too long.

The Liebster Award

The Liebster Award

Hello blog friends!

I was nominated for the Liebster award, which is an awesome award to help encourage the discovery of new blogs! 😊 Since the folks around here are lovely, I was nominated by two different blogs, meaning I have a lot of questions to answer. The rules of this award are simple:

  1. Thank to blogger(s) that nominated you
  2. Answer the 11 questions given to you in your nomination
  3. Nominate 5-11 bloggers who haveΒ less than 200 followers
  4. Inform those people that they’ve been nominated
  5. Give them 11 (mostly book-related) questions to answer

So, to start out, I was nominated by Aralyn from Paper Addictions and Magic. Read her post here. And awhile back (maybe an embarrassingly long time ago)Β I was also nominated by Lauren from Comma Hangover, and you can read her post here. Thank you so much to you Β both! You’re both amazing.πŸ’™

Since I have two sets of questions to answer here, I’ll start with Lauren’s.

Tuesday Tidbit: My Latest Book Haul

Tuesday Tidbit: My Latest Book Haul

Hello!

It’s Tuesday again and I thought today I’d share the books I’ve bought recently! I have been on a bit of a book buying ban the last month, because I needed to give my bank account a break πŸ˜‰ However, a bookworm can only hold off for so long. And since I’ve been to a bigger city nearby twice in the last week, I was able to visit the glorious landmark known as Barnes and Noble. Did I mention twice? In one week? It sounds too good to be true. So! Look below to see the newest editions to my shelf!

My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows.Β

I really wanted to get this book because a good friend of mine @booksalamode on Instagram, just finished this book and she raved about how funny it is! And I also love The Princess Bride, and it’s been compared to that story as well. Plus, I love the creativity here. Taking a tragic part of history and giving it a new ending? I’m hope Lady Jane Grey would be proud.

Quote

Quote Moment: ChampionΒ

He loves so wholly. It is his nature. He blinks, then tries to find the right response. “I-” he stumbles. “I’m so afraid, June. So afraid of what might happen to-” I put two fingers against his lips to hush him. “Fear makes you stronger,” I whisper. Before I can stop myself, I put my hands on his face and press my mouth to his.

― Marie Lu, Champion

I feel that this series is not rated highly enough or hyped enough. I adore all three books. I read each in one sitting. And that takes a lot for me, because I’m usually a busy human. πŸ˜‰

Here is the link to the Goodreads page of the first book in this trilogy, Legend by Marie Lu. Go read about it and then just read it.
