Double Review: The Dream Thieves & Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

Hello, blog peeps!

I’m realizing, while looking at my stats for this blog, that I haven’t been posting very regularly on here. Which I feel badly about. I guess I’ve just been so busy with life stuff that I sort of forget how many days go between posts. Time flies when you’re having fun, and sometimes when you’re not. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, to make up for it, I’m posting two reviews in one! I also thought this might be a bit easier for everyone, since the two books I’m reviewing are the second and third books in a series: The Raven Cycle. I reviewed the first book in this series, The Raven Boys, a couple weeks ago after finishing it in just a couple days. You can read that review here. Since then, I’ve marathoned the next two books, The Dream Thieves and Blue Lily, Lily Blue (click the titles to view their Goodreads pages). And if you know me at all, you know I can fly through a series when I’m enjoying it. My bookish friends have told me that The Raven Cycle is like a black hole that’s sucking me in. And maybe it is. But through all the fangirl feelings, shipping, and browsing the internet for fan-art and tumblr posts, I’ve been enjoying the ride into oblivion.

Review + Fangirling: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

IT’S HERE!

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you know exactly to what I’m referring. This beautiful piece of literature.

This beautiful edition to our most beloved universe. This fantastic and heartfelt story. Which I marathoned in one day, because of course I did. It’s Harry Potter. We’ve all been waiting for this.

So, I won’t include many spoilers, and no big ones. I just want to talk about the book, my feelings, and the thoughts I had when the last pages flipped over and “the end” stared back at me.

Book Talk: A New Opportunity

Hello, blog friends!  I have some exciting news! I’ve been contacted by a new blogging website, My Trending Stories, to become a contributer and share my book knowledge! Apparently they feel that my writing suites their all-inclusive vision for their site, and they also think my writing is engaging and attracts viewership! Of course, all these compliments definitely made my day. And I’ve accepted their offer! So, hopefully you’ll be seeing more of me around the blogosphere. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I don’t have many detail yet, but I’ll share them as I get them!  This whole situation also got me thinking about how grateful I am for each … Continue reading Book Talk: A New Opportunity

Coffee Book Tag

What’s up, my book peeps?

I’ve been so busy with all the stupid adult responsibilities I have, I haven’t had time to read, post on bookstagram, or post here. It’s the lamest thing ever. Growing up isn’t all unicorns and free books, guys.

Anyway, in the small amount of free time I have, I’ve been looking around for inspiration for my next blog post (that’s this one!), and while I have a list of things I could write about, writing about coffee on a day when I could really use another cup seemed like fun. A few people I follow have done the Coffee Book tag, and while I feel like one of them might have tagged me (code for: I commented my undying love for the tag and they awkwardly told me I should give it a go ๐Ÿ˜‚). So, I’m sort of tagging myself. But that’s okay because I’m an independent person. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And since I haven’t technically been tagged, I’ll take the suffering away from you by tagging anyone who reads this who would like to do it! It’s perfect for a rainy day post, when you need a hot beverage. And on that note, is anyone else craving autumn? Or is that just me? It’s my favorite season for a reason, and while I like summer, it always feels a little too long.

The Liebster Award

Hello blog friends!

I was nominated for the Liebster award, which is an awesome award to help encourage the discovery of new blogs! ๐Ÿ˜Š Since the folks around here are lovely, I was nominated by two different blogs, meaning I have a lot of questions to answer. The rules of this award are simple:

  1. Thank to blogger(s) that nominated you
  2. Answer the 11 questions given to you in your nomination
  3. Nominate 5-11 bloggers who haveย less than 200 followers
  4. Inform those people that they’ve been nominated
  5. Give them 11 (mostly book-related) questions to answer

So, to start out, I was nominated by Aralyn from Paper Addictions and Magic. Read her post here. And awhile back (maybe an embarrassingly long time ago)ย I was also nominated by Lauren from Comma Hangover, and you can read her post here. Thank you so much to you ย both! You’re both amazing.๐Ÿ’™

Since I have two sets of questions to answer here, I’ll start with Lauren’s.

Tuesday Tidbit: E-Readers

Hello!

Okay, I know it’s not technically Tuesday. But I was thinking about this post yesterday (when it was Tuesday!) and I just didn’t have time to post in then. So, next best thing ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was in Best Buy (which is an electronic store, for those who don’t have them around) because my mom was shopping for a new printer. And since I was not that invested in her printer selection, I decided to browse the store a bit. I did the usually things like listening to all the demo speakers, trying on all the Beats headphones, browsing the CD selection and wondering who still buys CDs, and then I found myself in front of the Kindles. And they were so pretty! I’ve actually been really interested in buying a kindle for awhile now. I just read on my phone Kindle app mostly. I’m always checking Amazon.com and looking at the different types. So, after being at war with myself for 15 minutes and justifying the purchase (it would be so much easier to read outside because no glare, it would save my phone battery, I could read ARCs so much faster!) I decided to buy a Kindle Paperwhite.

Book Talk: Pre-Orderingย

Hello!

Okay, so I was all set to do a Tidbit yesterday (it was Tuesday, after all), but I woke up and the Internet wasn’t working! And since we are a generation of techy people, it was a serious bummer ๐Ÿ˜‚ I live out in the country, so the only things around me are fields of grass and cows. Not cell towers. Which means my phone internet is spotty and basically useless. The downside of remote locations! It did eventually get fixed and here I am. ๐Ÿ˜Š So, no harm done! I actually got a bit of reading in, too.

Since it’s no longer Tuesday, I thought I’d just turn my idea into a book talk, and discuss preordering with you!

Book Talk: My Newest ARC!

Hello!

Okay, so something really awesome happened a few weeks ago. If you follow the author Colleen Hoover on Instagram, you may have seen her post about a giveaway of sorts she was hosting in the month of May. If you were to take a picture with the cover of her new book, It Ends With Us due out August 2nd, and she liked the photo enough that she reposted it, then you would automatically win a signed advanced copy of the book! So, of course I wanted to enter because I love books, especially free ones ๐Ÿ˜‰ But mostly because I’ve heard that It Ends With Us is an amazing read. I’ve seen people already getting tattoos of quotes. And sure, some people are crazy with their tattoos ๐Ÿ˜‚ But still.
So, since I’m bothering to write this post, you might have guessed where this is going. I posted a picture featuring my tattoo quote from The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare, and she liked my tattoo so much, she reposted! ๐Ÿ’™ Here is the picture I won with:
