It’s a beautiful sumner day here. The sun is shining, it was a scorching 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and things that are supposed to be green are turning that lovely shade of “I’m dying from dehydration” brown. If you are a summer person, it’s wonderful. If you’re me (which I am), it’s just not what you want. I’ve mentioned before that I really adore the autumn months. They are perfectly sunny but crisp, the sun isn’t so hot, you can get warm coffee and tea, you can wear a light jacket and boots, plaid everything, American football is back, the leaves are changing, nature is kissing the year goodbye, and it makes me want to bake something with pumpkin in it. It’s just the most wonderful time of the year. 💙
Another thing I love about autumn? New book releases! So, while this post was originally a small pity party for me, because it’s still only July, I decided I’d add in some actual information. So, I looked up some info about the best/most exciting new releases in September and October so we can all stay informed together. 😉
Okay, I know it’s not technically Tuesday. But I was thinking about this post yesterday (when it was Tuesday!) and I just didn’t have time to post in then. So, next best thing 😉
I was in Best Buy (which is an electronic store, for those who don’t have them around) because my mom was shopping for a new printer. And since I was not that invested in her printer selection, I decided to browse the store a bit. I did the usually things like listening to all the demo speakers, trying on all the Beats headphones, browsing the CD selection and wondering who still buys CDs, and then I found myself in front of the Kindles. And they were so pretty! I’ve actually been really interested in buying a kindle for awhile now. I just read on my phone Kindle app mostly. I’m always checking Amazon.com and looking at the different types. So, after being at war with myself for 15 minutes and justifying the purchase (it would be so much easier to read outside because no glare, it would save my phone battery, I could read ARCs so much faster!) I decided to buy a Kindle Paperwhite.
It’s Tuesday again and I thought today I’d share the books I’ve bought recently! I have been on a bit of a book buying ban the last month, because I needed to give my bank account a break 😉 However, a bookworm can only hold off for so long. And since I’ve been to a bigger city nearby twice in the last week, I was able to visit the glorious landmark known as Barnes and Noble. Did I mention twice? In one week? It sounds too good to be true. So! Look below to see the newest editions to my shelf!
My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows.
I really wanted to get this book because a good friend of mine @booksalamode on Instagram, just finished this book and she raved about how funny it is! And I also love The Princess Bride, and it’s been compared to that story as well. Plus, I love the creativity here. Taking a tragic part of history and giving it a new ending? I’m hope Lady Jane Grey would be proud.
Good morning and happy Tuesday! It’s actually Tuesday while I’m writing this, so I’m already ahead of the game from the last two weeks 😉
I don’t have many bookish things to discuss today. I’m still organizing my thoughts and working on my review for The Last Star. I ended up being sleepy last night so I went to bed without starting It Ends With Us. And there aren’t any books releasing today that I just have to get. So, what am I even doing here, you ask? Well, I thought since I’m just hanging around snacking and the lovely sun is shinning, I would share with you guys some of my essential summer items that are not books. But may have to do with books. Okay, and some of them might be books. 😉 Basically, things you need on a hot day in the sun/on the beach/by the river/in your backyard/or even maybe indoors if you burn easily like I do. Or maybe you shy away from the light because you’re a vampire. This is a judgement-free zone.
Hey guys! I realized I’ve been a schmuck and I haven’t posted my Tidbit the last two Tuesdays. So, even though it’s Friday, I decided to post anyway, because when Friday rolls around, we can do what we want, right? 😉
So, I’ve been in a horrible reading slump. I think I delayed it a little because right after I finished reading A Court of Mist and Fury (the book responsible for my hangover and slump), I jumped right back into Shadow and Bone, which I’d been in the middle of before I started ACOMAF. So, once I finished that, I couldn’t get into Seige and Storm. I thought maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood, but I can’t really get into any book.
I was just standing around in my kitchen being hungry when I realized it’s Tuesday! That means it’s tidbit time! So, what to talk about today?
How about the new release of the week, The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout! I didn’t actually know much about this book myself until I looked it up, but since I love Jennifer’s writing to pieces, I figured I’d love it no matter what it’s about 😉 If you want to know more about it, go check out Goodreads! Looks like this one is a contemporary read. And the cover is to die for!
I adored the Lux series by this author (check those out of you haven’t already!) so, while this is a totally different genre, I’m still really excited and have high expectations. Not that I’ve ever been let down my Jennifer before 😉
Another book release today is The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye. This is her first novel, and it sounds awesome! Kind of like Throne of Glass meets Shadow and Bone? I’m really excited for this fantasy read! It’s getting really good reviews, too. Check it out here on Goodreads.
So! Aside from some release excitement, I’m not doing much today. I have a 4 hour class this morning for my university and this afternoon I read in the sun for a bit.😊 Still reading Siege and Storm! It’s really good but one of those books I like reading in shorter bursts. Like, after an hour or so I’m ready for a break. Not one I’m marathoning. But, that’s just the way I do it sometimes 😂 No shade on this book in particular!
Are there any books you’re excited for beside the two I mentioned?
Good afternoon, friends!
Today I had a whim to bake. I used to bake all the time, and somewhere in the busy mess of college I fell away from it. But I had some time today, and since I have like 600 pins on my baking Pinterest boards, I decided it was time to make something yummy! So I poked around my kitchen and found some frozen strawberries in my freezer. In true Pinterest fashion, I searched for desserts with strawberries and found a recipe for bread! That’s not something I’ve tried before. And it turned out really awesome!
